We are seeking a highly-skilled mechanical technician to assist our engineering team working together within RadMAT project. You will be updating service and repair records, maintaining our demonstration set-up, and running diagnostic tests on equipment to ensure its optimal performance.
RadMAT focuses on the development, implementation and diffusion of pioneering technologies to tackle heat stress in the dairy industry. The increase in temperature and frequency of hot-weather events is causing severe heat stress in dairy cattle even in animals housed in northern latitudes, where the summer season is short but warm and there is minimal decline in overnight temperatures. The stress causes lower milk production, and as a result in the recent years, the Polish dairy industry already lost millions in farm receipts annually.
The project will deploy a demonstration set-up comprising a novel cooling system for the abatement of heat stress in dairy cattle. We will use cooled water in a water mattress to cool the cattle when they lie down, thus alleviating any heat stress in the animals. Cooling capacity will be measured for selected dairy cows in demonstration stalls.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the mechanical engineer with mechanical design and maintenance tasks.
- Installing and performing diagnostic tests on mechanical systems.
- Troubleshooting mechanical malfunctions and breakdowns, as well as performing repairs.
- Monitoring the availability of parts and replenishing supplies.
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering designs, installations, maintenance, and repairs.
- Great organizational and time management abilities.
- Willingness to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs outside of business hours.
