Description of the role
The person selected in this competition will participate in research and development tasks carried out in the project entitled “Studies on the dynamics of liquid film formation and evolution in two-phase flows in capillary tubes using chromatic confocal displacement sensors together with the PIV method” funded by the National Science Centre of Poland within OPUS 28 programme (Proposal Number: 2024/55/B/ST8/01704). The project, led by prof. Sławomir Pietrowicz, is to study the geometry of liquid film and the flows in the liquid slugs and liquid film under dynamic flow conditions for isothermal flow in a straight section of glass tube.
Responsibilities
PhD candidate will be responsible for carrying out the numerical simulations and performing experiments on the test stand.
- Construction of the test and calibration stand.
- Carrying out experimental tests.
- Analysis of results and comparison of experimental and numerical results.
Requirements for the candidate
- A MSc in mechanical engineering, energetics, mathematics, or other related field with broad skills in heat transfer measurement
- Good command of spoken and written English
- Experience in carrying out experimental studies.
- Knowledge of the PIV measurement method and experience in its use.
- Basic knowledge of modelling multiphase flows using CFD.
- Motivation for self-development and deepening knowledge in the field of thermodynamics and heat transfer

Benefits
Full employment contract initially for a maximum of 4 years (from November 2022)
Monthly salary 5 000 PLN (double gross, it would be the subject of taxes, social and health insurances and other legal deductions according to Polish law)
